6th Annual UBC Model Parliament Conference!

This conference is designed to provide a snapshot of the Canadian Parliamentary experience and is perfect for beginners and political experts. Everyone is encouraged to register regardless of academic background or experience.

According to current Party representation, participants will serve as delegates and be divided into Canada’s major political parties. You will represent actual Members of Parliament and duke it out like you were in the House of Commons. Delegates can connect with people of diverse backgrounds with similar interests, meet local members of parliament, and learn how our parliament system works.

This year’s legislation bill focuses on environmentalism and proposes an extension of the carbon tax. The bill proposes that there are increased taxes on imports and exports for maritime and air transportation shipping along with taxes for shipping companies.

Career in Canadian Politics Panel

This panel will be an opportunity for young university students with a passion for politics to learn about pursuing a career in the political sphere directly from Canadian politicians. Furthermore, it allows students to network and socialize with like-minded individuals and learn more about becoming actively engaged and involved at all political levels, whether municipal, provincial, or federal.

UBC Model Parliament is a non-partisan organization. We strive to have a variety of MPs, MLAs, and government officials across different parties attend our events. Our goal is to acquaint post-secondary students with the functional aspects of the Canadian government while creating friendships between like-minded individuals.
