UBC MoDel parliament conference 2024

UBC Model Parliament is a non-partisan conference simulation run by students for students through the Political Science Students' Association at the University of British Columbia – Vancouver. Our goal is to acquaint UBC students with the functional aspects of the Canadian government as well as to allow these students to become immersed in a meaningful debate regarding public policy while creating friendships between like-minded individuals. Everyone is encouraged to register regardless of academic background or past experience. Participants will serve as Delegates and be divided into Canada's major political parties according to current Party representation (as of March 2024). You will represent real Members of Parliament and will duke it out just as though you were in the actual House of Commons.

This conference is designed to provide a snapshot of the Canadian Parliamentary experience and is perfect for beginners and political experts. This year's MP Conference theme is “Canadian Federal Environmental Policy.” We will be exploring the unique relationship between the Canadian Federal Government, the Provinces, Canada’s Indigenous Peoples, and Canada’s unique environmental landscape.
