A more engaging way to learn about Canadian governance

Through our annual conference and other events such as Trivia Night and our Career in Canadian Politics Panel, UBC Model Parliament is a club that provides you with an experiential understanding of the functional aspects of Canadian government. With events that uncover insights about politics, delve into research, and tackle current world issues, UBCMP aims to provide you with meaningful experiences that cannot be found in classrooms or lectures.

Our annual Model Parliament conference divides delegates into Canada’s major political parties in accordance to current party representation and provides each person with the role of a real Member of Parliament. You will then debate, pose questions and respond to other delegates’ questioning surrounding a certain bill. The conference is designed to provide a snapshot of the Canadian parliamentary experience and is ideal for beginners and political junkies alike.
